Type 99 Arisaka Rifle

This rifle was retrieved by John Thomas Debrular, who served with the 62nd Naval Construction Battalion. After being carried into battle by a Japanese soldier during a last-ditch banzai charge, the weapon was dropped when American flamethrowers were used to break up the attack. Notice the charring on the butt stock.
