This presentation will focus on an overview of the Japanese American incarceration experience during WWII and the impacts that Executive Order 9066 had on American citizens. There will be a video that will be presented that takes viewers on a visual journey through historic images of the Japanese American community from immigration to incarceration. Q & A will follow the presentation.

Hanako is the current Executive Director of the Japanese American Museum of Oregon. She has devoted years of her personal and professional life preserving the history of the Japanese American incarceration experience during World War II, stating, “This topic is very personal to me, as my family was deeply affected by this trauma, which still reverberates down to me as a Yonsei/Gosei (fourth- and fifth-generation Japanese American).”
