Road to Victory: Bougainville

On November 1st, 1943, U.S. Marines landed on the shores of the island of Bougainville, part of the Soloman Islands. Though not large by any means, American forces would be fighting on Bougainville from that warm November day in 1943, all the way to the end of the War. Join us on September 6th to examine the big questions of the campaign: “Why did we attack Bougainville?”, “What happened during the battle?” and “Why does it matter?”.
During the program, the living history volunteers of Company K will engage in a battle presentation including simulated explosives, blank firing guns, and real World War II vehicles!
Presentations are offered at 11:00 and 2:00. This presentation is not recommended for small children, pets, or those with heart conditions.
