2025 In-Person Summer Institute for Teachers

The Summer Institute for Teachers offers educators, particularly those teaching 5th-12th grade social studies, a unique and immersive experience like no other! This five-day professional development program gives educators the opportunity to engage in:

  • Engage in expert-led sessions exploring cross-curricular lessons, utilizing primary sources, artifact-based learning, and innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Participate in hands-on workshops.
  • Deepen their understanding of the Pacific War through behind-the-scenes tours, immersive activities, and interpretive programs.
  • Enjoy lunch and learn sessions, featuring engaging presentations by museum professionals (lunch included in registration Monday-Thursday).
  • Network with fellow educators, sharing best practices and collaborative strategies for teaching complex historical topics.
  • Build a comprehensive toolkit of lessons, activities, and resources aligned with National Standards and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).


Space is limited and registration is required. You can register for the full Summer Institute for Teachers, or purchase daily passes to attend specific days that best suit your schedule. Tuition includes daily sessions, museum tours, workshops, daily refreshments, lunch, and a toolkit containing lesson plans, activities, and supplementary resources.
